Chamberlain Transport is turning to the latest technology to help reduce its operating costs.
The leading transport company has signed a new contract with MAN Trucks who will supply TeleMatics technology for all of Chamberlain's vehicle fleet.
The new technology enables Chamberlain to collect data on vehicle and driver performance, looking at key areas such as heavy breaking and acceleration, gear changes, and idle time.
This information is then used to train drivers how to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs by highlighting ways they can adapt their driving style.
"We chose the technology from MAN Trucks because we have several different types of vehicle in our fleet and this system can monitor them all in the same way. This means we can compare the performance of our vehicles accurately and address any issues that might be shown up on the data".
"Not only does it give us much more control over our costs it also helps us to reduce our carbon footprint, which are two vitally important factors for any transport company," said
David Lester, General Manager for MAN Fleet Management Sevices, said: "We are delighted that Chamberlain Transport has enhanced its relationship with MAN by choosing our EcoStyle driver and vehicle performance reporting system across the entire fleet".
"We look forward to working closely with the team from Chamberlain's in the coming weeks to help them drive costs down and to improve efficiencies and emissions."
