Chamberlain's beats the cold snap

As Britain's roads struggled to cope during the recent big freeze Chamberlain Transport went the extra mile to ensure it successfully completed all of its deliveries.

The efforts of Chamberlain's drivers and office staff meant deliveries such as the Associated Newspapers contract in partnership with Bedfords Transport were not disrupted by the severe weather.

Simon Chamberlain, managing director of Chamberlain Transport said: "Our staff worked really hard during the difficult conditions to make sure that all our deliveries were completed safely.

"When the snow was at its worst we had a call at midnight requesting extra vehicles to complete the newspaper deliveries which we were able to coordinate quickly making sure that all the newspapers reached their distribution depots on time.

"Many of our customers have extremely tight timescales for delivery so it's important that we don't allow our service to be affected."

The extensive training Chamberlain's provides for its drivers also helped them to safely negotiate the icy conditions.

"We work hard to provide the highest levels of training for our drivers to enable them to cope with conditions like the recent extreme weather.  As a result none of our drivers got stuck and the only damage to our vehicles during the snow was one broken headlight.

"This is obviously important not only to maintain the best level service for our customers but to also to ensure our operation is run as efficiently as possible and maintenance and repair costs are kept to a minimum."
